The 2024 edition, which has been completely revised by Prof Cherkeh, has now been published and is available for download at www.dsj.de/publikationen, under the heading ‘Child protection’. This guide (published by the German Sports Youth (dsj) in the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the German Sport University Cologne) is intended to help sports associations and clubs to legally categorise circumstances, e.g. (suspected) cases of violence. To this end, the brochure explains the various forms of violence (in sport), i.e. psychological, physical and sexualised violence, as well as examples of cases and criminal offences that can be attributed to each (Chapter 2). In addition, a possible or necessary procedure for sports clubs in the event of indications of cases of psychological, physical or sexualised violence is presented (Chapter 3). Finally, the possible sanctions that sports clubs can impose on perpetrators are discussed. (Chapter 4). The brochure not only examines state criminal law, but also in particular how sports clubs deal with (suspected) cases of psychological, physical or sexualised violence. This is intended to raise awareness among those responsible and help them to develop a sense of which types of behaviour are unacceptable or even punishable in the context of sport and how these can be dealt with.

Although the materials were developed for sport, they can also serve as orientation in other areas of voluntary work in society.
