As of 01.07.2019, the new specialist attorney designation for sports law decided by the Statutory Assembly at the Federal Bar Association came into force (§§ 1, 5 para. 1 lit. x, 14 q Specialist Attorney Regulations).
With a certificate dated 04.07.2019, the Celle Bar Association granted Prof. Dr. Cherkeh, as one of the first lawyers in Germany, the authority to use the title "Specialist Lawyer for Sports Law".
For the award of the specialist lawyer title for sports law, special theoretical knowledge and special practical experience must be proven. The field of expertise covers the following areas:
Self-imposed law of sports associations within the framework of association autonomy and their organizational structures, in particular statutes and articles of association of national and international sports organizations,
National and international sports federation and arbitration law,
Sports law aspects of administrative offences and criminal law, criminal procedural law, as well as intergovernmental and international law,
Protection against sport manipulation, in particular by so-called doping, sport-legal references of the medicament right,
Law of associations and basic principles of corporate law,
Sports law aspects of media law, in particular television, Internet and radio rights,
Intellectual property law, in particular personality rights, copyright and trademark law,
Sponsorship law, state sports promotion law and subsidy law, sports betting law,
Sports law aspects of national and international liability law,
Basic principles of non-profit and donation law,
Sports contract law, sports law aspects of service and employment contract law.
